Giving
Societies
Your
stewardship is vital to keep the work of
the Church going forward.
Your
enrollment in one of the following
societies is an expression of
solidarity with Christ.
Without the financial assistance of
Her people, the Church of Albany
could not assist the thousands in
need she now serves, educating our
young, caring for the elderly, or
giving hope to those who seemingly
have no hope.
To
help ensure the health and vitality
of the Church and her work of
ministering to God’s people, the
following stewardship societies have
been formed to honor individuals who
have made multi - year commitments
to support the Bishop’s Appeal:
The
Living Stone Society
“if ye
have tasted that the Lord is
gracious: unto whom coming, a living
stone, rejected indeed of men, but
with God elect, precious, ye also,
as living stones, are built up a
spiritual house, to be a holy
priesthood, to offer up sacrifices,
through Jesus Christ”. 1 Peter 1-10
The Living Stone
Society honors a distinct group of
stewardship leaders compromised of
individuals who have demonstrated
their commitment to a vibrant and
financially solvent Church of Albany
with a commitment of $5,000 or more
for three consecutive years. These
exemplary leaders of our diocese
will receive the personal thanks and
recognition from the Bishop of
Albany at the end of the campaign.
The Catholic
Leadership Society
The Catholic
Leadership Society honors those who
make a leadership gift or pledge
commitment of $2,500 to $4,999 for
three consecutive years thus helping
their parish to meet its annual
Bishop’s Appeal goal and assisting
the agencies and programs of the
Church to carry out their work to
serve the People of God across the
14 counties of the diocese. Members
of the Catholic Leadership Society
will receive special acknowledgement
from the Bishop of Albany at the end
of the campaign.
The 1847 Society
Your commitment of
$1847 to $2,499 for two years
commemorates and celebrates the long
legacy of stewardship that has left
an indelible impact on the lives of
people since the founding of the
Diocese of Albany in 1847. Our
first Bishop, John McCloskey,
envisioned a Church to long serve
the generations. On September 19,
1847 he was installed as Bishop. In
his homily he said, “The future of
the Diocese of Albany as such
commences with you and with me.”
Over the course of 165 years, the
Diocese of Albany built hospitals,
orphanages and schools, cared for
the sick and poor, and educated
children, contributing enormously to
the quality of life. We are the
heirs of this great legacy. While
the 1847 Society celebrates our fore
bearers in faith, it reminds us that
the future of our Church and our
community is still being written
today. Members of the 1847 Society
will receive special acknowledgement
from the Bishop of Albany at the end
of the campaign.
The
Catholic Stewardship Society
Your
gift of $100 as a member of the
Catholic Stewardship Society is an
excellent way to express your
support for the work of the vital
ministries and programs made
possible by the Bishop’s Appeal.
